Job Title:   Sales Executive –  Self-Funded Health Market - Texas & Louisiana
Department:   Regional Sales
FLSA Status:   Salary

JOB SUMMARY: Sales Executive will be responsible for broker/consultant and direct sale business to customers in the 100 to 5,000+ employee range.  The principle focus is on the sale of new Self-Funded Health plans with indirect responsibility for the retention of the current and new client base.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • New Business Sales:
    • Identify new potential healthcare business customers
    • Accountable for prospect from presale through implementation
    • Produce sales resulting in profitable premium levels
  •  

  • Confidence Building
    • Develop and maintain strong broker/consultant confidence
    • Develop and maintain key internal contacts
    • Understand customer and broker/consultant needs and provide value-added input
    • Identify key brokers/consultants for senior management’s development
    • Present and promote a positive image of Covenant Administrators in the marketplace.

     

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Product Knowledge
    • Detailed understanding of all Covenant products, services and solutions

     

  • Healthcare Knowledge
    • Must know the local healthcare industry; key players, company’s etc. and be familiar with their strengths, weaknesses and marketing strategies.
    • Have an in-depth knowledge of healthcare and stay current on current trends in industry
    • Must understand the goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of Company

     

  • Financial and Underwriting
    • Understands financing methodologies and the strategies of self-funding.
    • Thorough knowledge of Covenant’s underwriting principles and practices.
    • Ability to explain and justify renewal rates and cost increases to clients.
    • Develop effective plan for achieving business / sales goals.
    • Ability to bring business prospects to successful close

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • College degree preferred, but, will accept work experience in lieu of
  • Prior experience with a TPA, MGU or brokerage firm
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential.
    • Must have strong verbal presentation skills
    • Must have the ability to influence and effectively negotiate complex situations
  • At this time no foreign language competencies are required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • This position requires the ability to “think on your feet”, change gears quickly.
  • Must be multi-tasked and ability to make sound, reasoning decisions.
